California Central Coast ActivitiesMonterey Bay Volunteer
You can get involved and help with very important work in the Monterey Bay
“And so the effort must and shall go on. Though the task will never be ended we must engage in it with a patience that refuses to be turned aside, with determination to overcome obstacles, and with pride that it is our privilege to contribute.”

Rachel Carson, Silent Spring.

There are some very good ways to become constructively involved with the exciting work of marine life study, and Monterey Bay habitat protection.

We will link you to some of them. If you have questions, comments, or want to make suggestions, please send us a message at: Comment@pelicannetwork.net

Right Now! It's Bird Feeding Season, and the SPCA Wildlife Center needs help. Click for details
SNOWY PLOVER volunteers needed: Monitors are needed at local beaches, north and south bay, to help protect snowy plover nests. These endangered dune-nesting birds are threatened by beachgoers, unaware that they and their dogs are causing the adult birds to abandon their nests and killing their tiny chicks.

For more information email:
Snowy@pelicannetwork.net

Notice: Sad and disturbing, but true, this volunteer program will not happen in 2002 because of the California state budget shortfall!

Natural Bridges, Santa Cruz, has superb Docent-Naturalist opportunities.

Classes for tour leaders in the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary begin Wednesday, Sept. 24 and continue Wednesday evenings and Saturdays through October 22.

They can train you to be, also: Visitor Center Host, Gardner, Aquarium Caretaker, and Outreach Speaker. E-Mail Martha Nitzberg, Park Interpretive Specialist: naturalbridges@juno.com
or
Butterfly@pelicannetwork.net
