Creek Through Big Sur Redwoods Watercolor by Jeff Bryant McWay Creek is named for the Big Sur pioneer homesteaders whose barn is close to this scene. Later the Lathrop Brown family owned this property, and they were befriended by another pioneer - Julia Pfeiffer Burns, whose knowledge and profound love for Big Sur so enthralled the Browns that when they gave this property to the state for a park, they asked that it be named for her.McWay Creek flows from the Santa Lucia mountains in the Ventana Wilderness, through this light streamed redwood canyon and becomes a spectacular waterfall to the ocean.
