A story from the first Cook Off

See photos from February 23-25, 2007 Cook-Off

The Chanterelle Cook-Off will celebrate the unique
wonders of Big Sur and the wonderful cuisine
practiced here. Big Sur is the centerpiece of the
extraordinary California Central Coast and its
remarkable bounty. Chanterelles, unlike any other
mushroom anywhere, define the exquisite offerings
of Big Sur's natural world.

To raise funds for a special community need,
the Chanterelle Cook-Off will match the
culinary skills in our community. We want
the world to know how conscientious our
local culinary practitioners are, and why they
are proud to practice their art in a place that
protects its natural resources.

The beneficiary of the event is a special
community wide project to restore the Big Sur
River. This event is intended to demonstrate why our community shares concern our natuiral resources, and works toward the well-being of our community.
